Dr. Bertha A. Bouroncle Pereny (1919 – 2013) spent most of her life and career as a Professor of Medicine at The Ohio State University, where she identified a formerly fatal type of leukemia known as hairy cell, now mostly treatable thanks to her lifetime efforts. Her papers are one of 200 archival collections at the Medical Heritage Center.
