AAHM Delegate to the International Society for the History of Medicine
At its May 2013 meeting, the AAHM Council approved a new process for selecting a delegate and alternate to the next meeting of the International Society for the History of Medicine. The ISHM is the parent society of the AAHM. All AAHM members are eligible to become members of the ISHM by following the process laid out in our bylaws. Now the AAHM Council approved a similar process for selecting a delegate from the AAHM to represent us at the upcoming meetings of the International Society for the History of Medicine. The ISHM web site provides more information about both the society and its next meeting.
Here is the process that Council approved:
- Nominations of self or others for the position of delegate and alternate are welcome and should be sent to the AAHM's Executive Secretary.
- Nominations should include a CV, a short summary (one page) of the applicants' "medico-historical activities and publications" and a short statement of why they would like to serve as delegate and how they would advance the joint goals of the AAHM and ISHM.
- In order to be eligible, applicants must be or apply to become members of ISHM.
- The deadline for nominations and applications is July 1, 2013. They should be sent to the current Executive Secretary Jodi Koste(jlkoste@vcu.edu).
- The AAHM President in consultation with other officers will review and nominate a delegate and an alternate by July 15, 2013. Those names will be submitted to Council via email for approval.
- After Council approval, delegates and ISHM Secretary General will be notified of the delegates' names.
So if you are interested in serving as our delegate or have suggestions for othersto do so, please let us know by July 1, 2013.
